SBA Gel type : Strongly basic anion gel type resins
SBA Porous type : Strongly basic anion porous type resins
TRILITE SBA (Strongly Basic Anion Exchange Resins) is classified into the two types, based on the functional group. The functional group of Type 1 SBA, is TMA(Trimethylamine) and the DMEA(Dimethylethanolamine) for the Type 2 SBA.
Both types of SBA are strongly basic and exchange the anions in all pH ranges due to the salt splitting capacity. Type 1 resin features comparably lower ionic leakage than type 2 resin, but slightly lower regeneration efficiency due to the higher basicity. Hence, it is expected to feature better regeneration efficiency with the use of Type 2 SBA, and high purity water with the use of Type 1 SBA.
TRILITE offers not only the styrenic gel type SBA, most widely used in the industries but also the porous type SBA for specific applications.
The chemical structure of styrenic porous type SBA is identical with the gel type SBA, but it features a large number of pores on the surface; the surface area is larger than that of gel type resins. With these features, it effectively exchanges the cations in the non-polar solutions and highly dense solutions. Also, the porous type resins feature comparably faster reaction rate, decolorization rate, more strong to the organic contaminations, and greater mechanical strength for swelling and contraction. However, due to more moisture contents of the resins, the ion exchange capacity is lower than that of Gel type SBA.
