IER for SyntheticAdsorbents & Pharmaceutical
TRILITE Ion exchange resins and synthetic adsorbents are applicable for the separation and purification process of various pharmaceutical and food ingredient materials. The major applications are as follows.
-
Separation of non-electrolytes and electrolytes: These processes use cation exchange resins and anion exchange resins to separate the non-electrolytes(various impurities existing in cation/anion form) from the electrolytes(such as starch sugar). This process includes the refining of starch sugar, sugar refining, sorbitol refining, glycerin refining, and gelatin refining.
-
Separation of amphoteric electrolytes: Ion exchange resins are used to separate/refine certain amino acids and antibiotics; using that certain amphoteric electrolytes dissociates in specific pH range. These include the separation/refining of Lysine and Nucleic Acids. Also, Arginine can be separated by the ion-exclusion chromatography principle at isoelectric points pH range. Amino acids that have non-polar groups can be separated at isoelectric points with the use of TRILITE synthetic adsorbents. This includes the L-isoleucine separation/refining process.
-
Separation by the difference of molecular weight, hydrologic properties
TRILITE synthetic adsorbents can separate the molecules by the principal of molecular sieving, various pore size control, and surface area of the polymer matrix. For non-polar materials, such as Cephalosporin C, can be separated by the principle of Van der Waals forces. There are numerous applications of synthetic adsorbents such as pharmaceuticals, food applications, various refining processes, and decolorization.
